“I began working with Errol Webber when he was 21 years old, and the first film he shot for me won the Oscar for Best Short Documentary! His contribution was not only in cinematography: He gained so much trust from the subjects that his footage lent the film amazing intimacy and he took the initiative to shoot well beyond the direction he received, time and again bringing back amazing scenes and conversations.

We’ve worked together on a number of projects since and, frankly, I would not involve myself in any film project without Errol on my team. He not only has a terrific eye, work ethic and attitude. He has a good brain and, just as important, a good heart. Our first film catapulted three of our young African subjects into American universities, and that, as much as the film, was central to Errol’s pride.”
